Create Spotify App

After you have installed AE Connect on your website and created your basic email registration, you can add social network sign up options. The first step is creating social apps for each sign up service you want to provide. This article will show you how to create a Spotify app.

Create App on Spotify

  1. Navigate to the Spotify developer site and log in or create an account.

  2. Click your username in the upper right corner of the page and select Dashboard.

  3. Click the Create App button.

Note: If you just created your account, you will need to verify your email before creating an app.

  4. On the Create app page, fill in your app name, description (see image for example (1)) and website. The redirect URI (2) is: https://get.myfairshare.io/SpotifyAuthenticator_Controller . Click the add button (3).

  5. Scroll down and select Web API under Which API/SDKs are you planning to use? (1). Check the terms of service box (2) before hitting Save (3).

  6. You will be redirected to the dashboard homepage for your new app. Click Settings in the upper right corner of the page.

  7. On the Basic Information page, you will need to copy two strings of text: Client ID (1) and Client Secret. Click View client secret (2) to reveal the client secret.

Setup Spotify App in your Dashboard

  1. In a new tab, navigate to your FairShare dashboard, then to your AE Connect Application page. Scroll down to the Social Apps tab (1) and click on the Spotify icon under Streaming (2).

  2. In the popup form, paste your Client ID (1) and Client Secret (2) from step 7 of the previous section. Click Activate App (3).

  3. You’ll be redirected to your AE Connect Application page where you can see the Spotify app is now active.
